WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO GIVE YOUR LIFE FOR OTHERS AND THE GOOD OF THE PLANET?

To put it simply, giving our lives for people and the well-being of the planet means surrendering our ego. We do this by recognizing that everything is temporary, including ourselves. Two hundred years from now, no one will know we existed. Even if we are famous figures, people will know that "that figure" existed, but they will not know the exact essence of who we truly were.

Our personal disagreements and tastes do not have the power to knock the Earth off its axis. However, if every person acts to maintain the dignity and peace common to all forms of life, it will make a colossal difference.

We do not live alone. The machinery of life only functions through union and the common good. We are a single species; if one of us is harmed, the entire humanity suffers, even if we don't realize it immediately. We are not "golden angels" floating between heaven and earth; we are part of a group inhabiting the same home. Without divine hope, we would be nothing more than fertilizer or ashes scattered in some forest or beach—and the world would keep turning, indifferent to the opinions we once thought were so special.

Ways to Give Our Lives

1. Abandoning Hatred and Prejudice

Do you dislike a certain group of people? Even so, do not promote evil against them. Do not preach racism, intolerance, or prejudice. You will not end the planet's diversity unless you go around dropping atomic bombs. Therefore, abandon your ego and use your energy to build good things for yourself and the people you love. Global peace is infinitely more important than our personal taste or way of thinking.

2. Rejecting the Illusion of War

Regardless of which side you are on, let go of your ego and do not support any type of war. The geographic distance of a conflict is an illusion: the effects of war affect all of humanity. They accelerate global warming, cause environmental degradation, gross pollution, and the slaughter of innocent nature and people. Wars breed hunger, misery, disease, and financial shocks that rattle the entire world. It is not "our enemies" who are dying; it is humanity and the planet that are perishing. To support war is to support disgrace against ourselves.

3. Serving the Vulnerable

Defending and helping the sick, minorities, and those facing hunger and misery; promoting environmental preservation and animal protection; volunteering for truly relevant and healthy causes—all of these are real forms of giving our lives.

The Example of Masters and Nature

Jesus gave His life to save humanity. In didactic mythology, Shiva drank the poison so that the world would not be destroyed. Plants and animals give their lives every day to nourish other beings.

We, too, can abandon our ego for the benefit of collective well-being. After all, what we are today and what we will be after death does not depend on political parties, ideologies, or religions, but rather on The One who is Unique and Eternal.
